TDF 2004   Back to Tour de France page
The following itinerary is based on our knowledge and love of the area , there is a lot to see and do, many beautiful cols to ride.
This suggested itinerary is not obligatory, the most important thing is that you enjoy your holiday, there is no shame in choosing not to ride or just cutting short the days riding and relaxing down at our river bank. Because of the network of cols circling the Lodge this is easy to do on most of the days riding we are suggesting. Maybe put on your hiking boots and discovering some of the great walks that are in our region. Our cycling guide for this holiday Graeme is a very strong rider and will delight in introducing you to all the cols telling you facts and stories about what has happened in the past on these well peddled climbs. For those who want a day or two discovering the history of this region Jan has a vast collection of books to delight you and is always willing to discuss the Cathars and point you to landmarks. Nick and Graeme both keep a mobile phone handy to keep in contact with you if you choose to take an alternative route and Jan is in the office in Massat ready to jump into a back up vehicle so you are never in danger of being lost, forgotten or abandoned. We strongly suggest that you try to get a copy of Michelin map 343 Ariege to study and really appreciate what a cycling haven we are situated in.
