Port
d'Aula : Completing the Circuit!
By John Partington
My
first visit to Nick and Jan's was via the Port de Salau from the Pallaresa
valley in Spain with a laden touring bike. I harboured the ambition to
make a circuit from Nick's via the Port d'Aula and Port de Salau in one
ride, preferably without luggage! In 2000 the opportunity presented itself.

from Graeme fife ;On a trip we took with Sean Kelly and 140 Irish
cyclists from the Pyrenees to Portugal
The Tour leader
Sean Kelly - so enamoured of the Irish green, that he won the emerald
Points jersey of the Tour de France an unequalled four times - has ridden
for the NCBI since 1993/4, out of devotion to the Saddles freewheeling
cause and sheer love of the bike. It’s inspiring for everyone, the hot
shots ,the wee nifties, the young. old and in-betweens and the cheery occasionals
to ride alongside the man observe him boffing empty cardboard boxes
into the verge with a sideways flick of his back wheel and see his grin
crack wide
